Dorados Look for Revenge

In what might turn out to be the biggest game in the regular season in Arizona, the Canyon del Oro Dorados look to do something that no other team has been able to do in 3 years. That is beat Scottsdale Saguaro. The Sabercats have won 37 straight games and haven't lost since October 27, 2006 when they fell 24-21 to rival Scottsdale Chaparral.

The closest that Saguaro has come to losing since then was the 2007 4A-I State Title game were the Dorados were a mere 6 seconds away from topping the number 1 seeded Sabercats. Saguaro prevailed 23-21 with a late field goal from Steven Chiappetti.

One huge highlight from that title tilt for CDO was Ka'deem Carey's 91 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Only a freshman at the time, Carey has grown into the main focus of the Dorados offense. The junior tailback is averaging 197 yards rushing per game this year and already has broken the school's single game rushing record with his 284 yards effort against Santa Rita.

While Carey was been the star, the CDO defense has been the back bone to the states number one ranked 4A-I team, giving up just over 10 points per game.

While this is a huge hurdle, it is only last major game between now and a number 1 seed in this years playoffs.

So get out and support the Dorados, support Tucson high school athletics and might just witness what might be a precursor to another great State title match up.
